In just two short years, Momodou Jallow – better known as J Hus – has brought himself from East London college dropout to the forefront of the current grime resurgence. Grown from his breakout track ‘Dem Boy Paigon’ in 2015, J Hus commands the sounds of grime, reggae, and afrobeat to reach a new high on his Mercury Prize-nominated album Common Sense, released in May 2017. Collaborations with the likes of fellow grime lord Stormzy only further cement his status as a global phenomenon. Behold the ‘Spirit’ (watch him perform the track for Boiler Room here) of London’s underground as it resonates through Sugar Mountain, courtesy of J Hus. And check this footage of him performing at Reading Festival, where he blew the roof off the tent.
